This most impressive large-scale Black Forest wood figure is beautifully carved and depicts the full standing figure of a portly friar dressed in a simple habit, cheerfully enjoying a large goblet of wine or maybe several, judging by his expression. The carving has great details and is finished by hand with natural chisel and gouge cuts that have not been sanded and are signed by the artist.
