And The Crown Goes To...

Kristian Dixon

In 2000 Pantone announced their first Color of the Year, and since then they have been a driving force of how color is used in fashion, interior design, tech, and industrial design. During the selection process, they are looking at the relationship between trends in color and what is happing in our global culture.

This year they have crowned, Viva Magenta 18-750 as the 2023 Color of the Year, which they describe as "a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength." Other words used to describe Viva Magenta - powerful, empowering, electrifying, boundary-less, audacious and inclusive.

So, how do you incorporate this audacious color into your home décor? You can do little pops of color with throw pillows, bedding, candles, art, and rugs. Or you can go big. Paint a sideboard, feature wall, or whole room with this electrifying color. Or try a fun, bold wallpaper print to use in your powder room. We love Schumacher’s Shanghai Peacock Wallpaper in Cerise.

Whether you are contemplating Viva Magenta in a big way (wallpaper!) or small way (candles!), the resounding opinion is that it is a color that can only elevate your space.
